Cheryl Todmann never thought that she would leave her lucrative career of marketing media for companies such as Essence Magazine, The New York Times, TV Guide and MTV Networks for a calling in marketing movement. But at age 28, her Spirit told her that she needed to move, physically, to be fulfilled, so she joined the dance ministry at St. Paul Community Baptist Church. An adolescent knee injury, however, resurfaced and she realized she had to take charge of her calling by healing herself. Cheryl quit her media jobs and became a certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor to begin her mission of healing herself and others. She joined Creative Outlet Dance Theatre of Brooklyn in 1999 as marketing director and as a dance apprentice, and in 2001, was a featured artist in Creative Outlet’s Best of Seven concert at the BAM Harvey Theater. She later performed for George Faison’s Tribute to the Amistad in New York City, for Isaac Hayes’s Birthday Bash, and for Michael Jackson at his 30 Years of Magic Celebration with dancers from her Jewel and Rock Fitness dance and fitness program.Essence Magazine has featured Cheryl as a dance promoter and her Jewel & Rock Fitness program has been featured in Heart & Soul and Kuji magazines, and on WABC-TV and WWOR-TV. Ms. Todmann is currently Director of Community Relations for a not-for-profit social services agency in Brooklyn as serves as a media and marketing consultant, and dance artist, for PURELEMENTS: An Evolution in Dance performing arts organization in Brooklyn.
